The Trip of a Lifetime

UNBELIEVABLE AMAZING UNFORGETTABLE PERFECT

These are just a few words that I can come up with as I sit and think back on one of our most amazing family trips. The LA State Troopers (Troop B) granted Wyatt the trip of a lifetime to meet Mike Trout and Alex Bregman. Planning for this trip was not easy for our State Trooper friend Jared but he did it!. Thursday afternoon we hopped in the van and headed over to Houston. The troopers got us a room at the Westin across the street from Minute Maid Stadium. It was perfect!

We were able to walk to the aquarium on Friday morning and then Friday afternoon we headed over to the stadium. We were on the field during warm ups and batting practice. Alex Bregman from the Astros was the first to make a visit. He was so caring and genuine while talking to Wyatt. A few other Astros and Angels players came by and Wyatt knew all of them. It was incredible to hear Wyatt rattle off their names, positions and background story....like when Trey Mancini came by...Wyatt looked at us and said he's awesome he beat cancer. It was fun to watch Trey pet Wrigley. He was happy Wyatt let him pet him and told Wyatt the he misses his dog while on the road.

Then to take the evening over the top Mike Trout walked up and said, "hey Wyatt I heard you wanted to meet me" and he gave Wyatt a huge hug!!!! OMG tears started to well up in my eyes. After signing all of the things the boys wanted, he brought a few other players by to meet Wyatt and Wynston. Then something very unexpected happened...Mike Trout called for Wyatt to come out on the field with the team and stretch. It was so fun to watch Wyatt out there talking to the team....actually talking and making them laughing. I looked over and Patrick is crying and one of the managers has his hand on Patrick's shoulder saying...I understand. It was seriously an unbelievable feeling to see the joy on Wyatt's face.

I could bore you with all of the other amazing moments that happened over the weekend like Orbit the mascot

and cheerleaders visiting us at our seat but I won't. I do want to add that Jason Columbus, Alex Bregman's batting coach, spent that afternoon with us. We learned about Bregman's charity that helps kids with Autism succeed in school. It was so nice to get to know him and talk about Wyatt and DMD and some of the behavior similarities boys with DMD have to those with autism.

I really wish I could find the words to explain how amazing this trip was for our family but it is just impossible so I have included a bunch of pictures to show the pure joy this gift brought to us.

This year has been a difficult one with Wyatt no longer walking and the school challenges but it's times like this that all of those things get put to the back burner of my brain and I just see a boy who LOVES baseball and got to have his wish come true. Thank you LA Sate Troop B for the trip of a lifetime!

Hi Jess, this looks like it was an amazing experience for you and the family! Jack and I are both huge Angels fans and we can’t wait to hear from Wyatt all about his experience of meeting the players next time we see him!
